Some County Dumps aka transfer stations
take mattresses to a recycling facility in the Bay Area that puts the mattress/box spring through a
a shredder that separates the metal magnetically and puts fiber in a bailer machine and some fibers are resold.
Beware, some haulers are claiming they recycle
mattresses. What they do is charge you more
and take the mattress to the same mattress recycler
that the County Dump take them to.
